MAJLIS PELANCARAN “MERAPATKAN JURANG DIGITAL MASYARAKAT PEDALAMAN”, LONG BUSANG, BUKIT MABONG, KAPIT
KAPIT – April 27, 2019 – The Right Honourable Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg launched WIFI infrastructure at Long Busang, Bukit Mabong, Kapit.
The WIFI infrastructure plays a vital role as part of the Digital Economy initiatives to provide internet coverage. Through the installation of VSAT (very small aperture terminal) to remote areas in Sarawak, this serves as an interim initiative by Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) to provide telecommunication connectivity. This initiative is also as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by Danawa Resources Sdn. Bhd., HNM Nadhir Sdn. Bhd., and Reach10 Communication.
“The launch of the WIFI infrastructure by The Honorable Chief Minister of Sarawak in Long Busang proves that the government is serious about making Sarawak Digital Transformation a success, particularly towards the community in the remote areas in Sarawak. By leveraging the WIFI infrastructure, Long Busang community not only able to connect with everyone but further promote the local products and culture of the community across nation, thus potentially influences the economic growth of the people in Long Busang”, said Dr Zaidi bin Razak, General Manager of Sarawak Multimedia Authority.
Under the Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy 2018-2025 (Digital Inclusivity: Action 47), the Sarawak Government through SMA is keen to establish a digital-ready community through developing digital skills and competencies and promoting inclusive digital participation.
Other programmes organized by SMA that took place in Long Busang include STEM Programmes for school children, awareness programme on Sarawak Pay and CENTEX-SMA Safari 2019. The programmes organized aim to bring Sarawak Digital Transformation awareness and promote Digital Inclusivity amongst the community in Long Busang.
