SMA Strengthened Cooperation With The Malaysian Nuclear Agency To Spread Authentic Information About 5G Telecommunications

KUCHING: The Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) will continue to strengthen cooperation with the Malaysian Nuclear Agency (ANM) in spreading authentic information to the public about the development of 5G telecommunications.
Acting General Manager of SMA, Ng Hong Ping said, a paper will be prepared by ANM so that the cooperation involved is strengthened with a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
"We very much welcome the cooperation with ANM especially to inform the public with accurate and authentic information about the development of 5G telecommunications.
"In fact, we also need expertise from ANM to convince the public regarding the arising issues because the development of 5G is a national agenda," he said.
He said during a courtesy visit from the ANM delegation led by the Director of the Industrial Technology Division, Dr. Norpa'iza Mohamad in Kuching on Wednesday (14 February 2024).
Meanwhile, ANM's Radiation Safety and Health Division Manager, Roha Tukimin explained about the research conducted by her side in Sarawak.
"We started doing research on radiation in Sarawak in 2016 and followed up by signing an MoU with SMA in 2019.
"However, we would like to renew the MoU with SMA for the development of 5G in Sarawak so that our cooperation continues to be strengthened," she explained.
She said, the ANM has carried out radiation assessment in all parts of Sarawak including far inland in Bario.
She added, as a result of the study, the radiation rate from 5G telecommunications throughout Sarawak does not exceed two percent when the dangerous rate is 10 percent.
On Thursday (15 February 2024), ANM and SMA together with several other agencies also went to the field to test the level of radiation in the Stutong area with a reading is less than 0.5 percent.
Also present, ANM Technology Commercialization Director, Dr. Rasif Mohd Zain, Manager of ANM's Nuclear Center of Excellence, Nor Hadzalina Sukarseh and ANM's Head of Marketing (Research Officer), Mohamed Zaffar Ali Mohamed Amiruddin.
