Overview

Cyber security is a key component of Sarawak’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and Sarawak Digital Economy (SDE) Blueprint 2030, ensuring the State’s digital transformation and economic resilience.

Recognising the importance of protecting sensitive data, maintaining public trust, and securing digital infrastructure, the Sarawak government established a dedicated Cyber Security Unit (CSU) in 2023 under the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) to drive cyber security initiatives.

To operationalise its mandate, the CyberSarawak initiative was launched to strengthen the State’s cyber security posture, fostering trust and participation in the digital economy. This initiative is structured under the 3S Programme:

1) Stay Safe - Providing a centralised platform for reporting cyber security incidents.
2) Stay Smart - Raising awareness of cyber threats, particularly among underserved communities.
3) Stay Secure - Evaluating and strengthening cyber security within government agencies.

Additional projects under CyberSarawak are planned for 2025 and beyond to further enhance Sarawak’s cyber security capabilities.
